Griffin day 26

Drove up in the truck for Bernie's first flight. There wasn't really any lift so it was a sledder. We all landed then raced back up the hill to fly Tapita. I got a 35 minute flight before the wind was light enough to land. After I was on the ground we ate a big lunch before we went back up. There wasn't much of any wind so we sat up top for about 45 minutes before we went. After landing we got ready and went to Mangito's for dinner.

Griffin day 25

We got up and drove up to morning launch. I went and got a 45 minute flight. On my later flight we tried to make sure that all three of us were airborne when Bernie and Durelle came around the corner of the bay. Were successful and I ended up getting a 35 minute flight. Eventually I came down and greeted our guests before we went to dinner at tacos y mas. It was awesome as always and Brenie and The Duck really enjoyed it.

Griffin day 24

Woke up to full sun but it went to cloudy so we didn't drive up. Since we wern't driving we decided to walk out to the point and then to the gates of the $500 a night resort. It was really cool and afterwards the weather was good enough to go up for a couple sledders. After our first flight John picked up his tandems and took them up the hill. They were going to fly at the same time but it didn't work out so John flew them both. After I landed we all got pizza and then we went to tacos Yolanda for dinner.

Griffin day 23

We went to morning launch and passed some cows on the way up. Got to launch and the wind was over the back and really strong. We sat up there for awhile waiting for it to get better and after a little while the cows caught up to us and Negro (Aldo's dog) chased them off of launch. We didn't get to fly so we went to shambala and then met Johns tandems who didn't want to fly today so Anson flew with John and we all got awesome flights. Art launched first and got an hour flight then I went and got one too. John and Anson went after me and got a 35 minute flight. During Art's flight he went almost to the point where he had to land before he caught a thermal that got him way above launch. We went to Pollo Bollo.

John Day 24 Feb 26th

Today started with sun. Then went to full clouds. The Radar showed lots of clouds to the west so I decided not to drive up.

Alison suggested a walk to the point. None of us have been out here so we went.

After the walk I ran up for a fast solo.

Also and I meet our tandems and headed up to launch. We had to sit there for a while waiting on better cycles. While waiting Allan showed up with a Tandem, Then Chris with a Tandem. Then Simon. I finally said I was going to go with Kathleen and thought Aldo was following me with Deirdre. After we landed we waited for Aldo. Finally we saw Aldos wing. When he got close it was not Deirdre. Also explain Chris had him take one of his passengers. I ran up to launch. On the way I was caught by Art and Griffin. They got to launch 1st and told Deirdre i was on my way. After I got there we had to wait for Chris to launch his Tandem, A visiting pilot,  and Simon. I then went with Deirdre.

Anson and I had a swim out to the front of David Lords house.

We went to Tacos Yolanda's for Dinner, then Ice Cream.

Griffin and I did some Wing Maintenance.

John Day 23 Feb 26th

Today started with a drive to morning launch. Over the back strong so drive back down. The cows did not help.

We took Art to Shamblah for beef Stew.

My Tandems decided they did not like the wind so Anson jumped in.

Art went 1st. THe Thermal clinic from the night before worked out. He worked his well back up from a couple hundred below launch to 300 over. and a hour flight.

Griffin went 2nd and did a great thermal and ridge lift hour flight.

Anson and I got a 35 minute soaring flight.

John Day 22

2Day started with taking the Laundry to Ley.

Then off to the Truck. Aldo to his family to the next town over so we had 10 plus people in the truck.

Griffin launched first, Art second and I went third. I talked Griffin and Art both thru some thermal turns. I got around :22 minutes.

After landing we humped up for Afternoon sled ride.

Off to the Garcia house for lunch. What an amazing meal. Yum.

Griffin went 1st and had a great long flight. Art second moderate flight. I went last. Very heavy so a 6 minute flight.

Swim in the ocean with Art and Anson. Griffin stayed on the beach to kite. Alison and I then Hot Tubed.

We stayed in for dinner. Spaghetti and salsa.

We then did a verbal thermal clinic.

Griffin day 22

Woke up and went to Tapa. Did some thermaling and landed. Did some awesome kiting while I waited for John and Art. We hiked up to Tapita and got a flight before we went to the Garcia house for lunch. Mama Garcia made us some awesome chile rellenos that were delicious. After lunch we hiked up again and I got an amazing 35 minute flight. After I landed I kited my wing for over an hour before I went home. Anson, Art and I went to the store and got some pasta sauce and meat for dinner. We ate and then we talked thermal flying.

John Day 21 Feb 24th

Morning started with a hike to the truck.

When we arrived at the top we were socked in with clouds but had cycles.

Clouds cleared and I went 1st. Hooked a nice thermal and had my first flight above Tapa.

Miguel went second and joined me.

Art was third and flew the flight plan to the beach

Griffin had a rip in his wing so he could not fly.

Art and I ran up to afternoon launch after fixing Griffin's wing. I sled rode down to meet Paula for what turned in to 2 Tandems.

After flying I bought a computer for Eric Garcia. Bernie is picking up from Best Buy.

We went to dinner at Briasas. Yum.

Gorcery shopping and then up to Aldo to talk.

Aldo was not there so I went to Alan's and found them both. Helped him with his computer.

Hung some nets in the unit.

Anson day21

Today was maybe one of my best days. First I got to sleep in then I got to make a pineapple smoothie then I got to get the best muffin that I've had in a wile at the cafe Brahia and he even gave me a discount. Then I got on the Electra and drive it. In PV we split a bag of chips for a snack and on the way back we saw two whales!!! Then when I got back Elder said I could use the jet ski if we bought the gas. We ate at LAS BRIASAS!!!!!

Griffin day 21

Woke up and got ready for the truck up to Tapa. Reached the top and watched John, Art and Miguel launch but when I was on launch Aldo found a rip in my wing so I rode down in the truck and when I got home we fixed it. We hiked up to Tapita after lunch and got a decent flight. After I landed Art and I hiked back up together and got awesome flights. Mine was almost 20 minutes and Arts was over 30. I landed and hiked up. Watched John launch and laided out. Didn't get off by the time Art caught to me and ended up hiking down with him. Went to Brisas Resturant for dinner and ran some errands after.

Alison Day 21 Friday February 24

I can't believe we have been here 3 weeks already. The time has flown by and it has been amazing every day that we have been blessed to be here.  The weather was incredible again today, I hoped we have kicked that rainy weather for good. I finished the Bone Collector last night and started a novel called Little Bee today about a Nigerian Refugee. Checked out Mary Ann's Palapa next door it is a cool tree house feel with a hanging bed and all. Also have critter catchers above the bed due to the Palapa roof. She said they have  a resident skunk that can be a problem but not much this year. It would be perfect if Anson and Griff lived here and wanted to live in a real life tree house. A little too rustic and exposed for me I like my concrete and ceramic roofing!!! Anson got to drive the Water Taxi himself today and was very proud to do so. Griff got too many flights to count and Art flew right along with him. John did 2 tandems and a couple of solos. I will have that massage soon it seems!!! The magic of Yelapa is thrilling and amazing. I love this place and love sharing it with Art as his first Mexican experience. It is truly organic and real. Not sure where we are dining tonight, but will definitely hit the store for some groceries on the way home. Art asked if they have bacon here!!! Adios Amigos.

John Day 20 Feb 23rd

4 Flight day!!!!

Started with getting radios ready for the day.

Hike to the Truck with Art for the first time. We had to roll start the truck to get it started.

Alan laid out 1st. After a while he let me jump in. I did a light wind forward. Alan went second, Art 3rd and Griffin last. All sled ride. Art work on Reserve handle location, baby ears and Big Ears. I talked art through his landing

Griffin got high over Afternoon Launch and was able to surf it some.

Straight Hike to Afternoon Launch with Byron. Strong winds on launch so I went 1st. Crazy strong so Art and Griffin Waited. Byron finally went and then Art and Anson. I talked Art in on Landing. While I waited for the wind to calm down I shopped computers with Eric.

Back up for 2 more flights. Art and Anson Each self landed.

After my 4 flight I Kitted the wing for 20 straight minutes and then did 20 or so practice launches.

Anson day20!!!!

Today was fun because I got to work on the water taxi again that makes working on it three days in a row. Then I worked on my sheath some more and played in the lagoon some with Ricardo and he almost got a fish. But they were mean and left me on shore when the took the paddle boat out to go on the water. Then I went to the pier to get on the boat to work but he said he didn't need me. We ate at Passion Flower Gardens for dinner and I got the best ever spaghetti

Griffin day 20

Got up and hiked to Tapa. Got a nice 10 minute flight before we took a short break for lunch. After lunch we hiked up and got a sledder. Did another hike and waited on launch before we finally got in the air. On the last flight the wind started coming in 90 degrees from the left and we had to wait for a really long time before I could launch. Eventually I was able to launch and I got a decent flight. We went to italian night at the Passion Flower Gardens and it was goood.

Griffin day 19

Woke up and got ready to go to Puerto Valliarta to pick Art up at the airport. Went to café Bahia for breakfast and got the grab and go, which is basicly an egg McMuffin. After breakfast we got on the water taxi that Anson was working on. Once we arrived John and I went to Sergieo's office and booked the shuttles for Bernie and Durelle and our exit. After that was taken care of he called us a taxi and we went to walmart. We got almost everything on our list but they didn't have any knives or walkie talkies so, we went to the mall next door and found their radio shack. We got a pair of walkie talkies and went to the road to catch a taxi to the airport. We arrived at the airport with plenty of time to go across the street to Pollo Feliz and get a chicken. It was delicious and we had a little left over to give to Art. Back at the airport we waited for awhile before I went looking for Hugo. Luckily while I was looking for him I ran into Art at a taco place down the hallway from where we were waiting. We found Hugo and he got us into a car to the water taxi. We were running late for the taxi and we would have missed it if they didn't have trouble getting gas because of the traffic that kept us from arriving on time. We got to Yelapa and and did some kiting before we took Art to Tacos y Mas.

Anson day19

Today I woke up and got to go to Cafe Bahia at the pier and had the grab and go because I had to go to the water taxi. Then I went to the taxi and cleaned the boat and picked people up. When we got to PV we had to unload a lot of stuff and people. Then we got tacos at a stand and they were really good. When we left from PV we had a full boat and had a smooth ride. On my break I hung out in the hammock and laid on the beach then I stopped being lazy and went and made a sheath for my knife. We had to many people on the way to PV and had a wave come over the nose of the boat. On the way back we were to full again but I got to talk to some people going to a wedding and the said I could come. We ate dinner at Tacos Y Mas!!!! 

Alison Day 20 Thursday Feb 23

Beautiful day in Yelapa!!! Art had 4 great flights and loved it. Italian Dinner at Passion Garden Flower topped off with Blackberry and Apple Pie. Great Pesto Pasta and delicious bread. Visited with Erik in the morning, David Lord in the afternoon and Paco dropped by to pick up the shirts Art brought him of John's. Met Byran and Megan from Whitefish Montana and shared chocolate and coconut pie with them. Adios Amigos!!!

John Day 19th Feb 22nd

Started with Breakfast at the pier. I had a Breakfast burrito. Paco joined us at the end.

Griffin and I then took Anson's water Taxi to PV.

We meet Sergio at the Water Taxi office and arranged all travel for Bernie and Our departure.

We got a Taxi to Walmart.

After Walmart we walked to Radio shack in the Mall.

Taxi off to the Airport

Griffin and I grabbed lunch at Pollo Feliz. 1 whole chicken and a Fresca.

Walk over to the Aeropuerto to meet Hugo and Art.

Off in a Taxi to the Pier. We had a great driver and the water Taxi was running late.

Made the 1:30 Boat to Yelapa.

Off the boat to the unit for Art and Griffins wing.We started Art Kitting on the beach.

Alison had a Tandem for me. We went down to the hotel and found my passenger. I tried calling Aldo for the second person but could not find him. Ian and his Dad Gregg hiked to launch. We did a forward and had a nice flight.

Alison Day 19 Wednesday Art Arrives

Had Breakfast with the family at Cafe Bahia before they water taxied to PV to pick up Art. Met the amazing Chef there named Susan who lived in Boulder 30 years ago! Blueberry Scones, Banana Coconut muffins and pancakes were among the delights. I shopped for beer, yogurt and milk for Arts Homecoming. Swept out the unit and made beds again for Art's arrival. Hung out on the beach until Art's arrival and they arrived about 2:30!! Awesome walk and dinner at Tacos Y Mas. No avocado pie but the Flan was muy bueno!!! Art seems to really like it here. So happy to have him. Adios Amigos!!!

John Day 18th Feb 21

Day started with Sun. Finally

I hike to Alan's house. He wanted to talk launch fees. We settled on 200 pesos for visiting piolts.

Light wind at morning launch so I took second slot for a forward launch after Migel.

After Chips and salsa I hike up for 3 more Flights.

I installed a new wind sock on lower launch between flight 2 and 3.

Griffin and I took a swim to talk. Anson joined us on the surf board. We hot Tubed in the lagoon. Anson brought the Lizard in with us. It swam very well.

Off to Dinner at the eclipse. Chicken Fajitas, Cheese cake and Fire dancing.

Talked to Jt and Bernie. Water back on at the HC.

Off to Bed.

Anson day 18

Today was a lazy and fast

I got up at 8 to work on the water taxi

Then I had to wait at the pier when we got back to get my flip flops

Then I walked slowly back home to play with dogs and talk with people

I got to play with the lizard at the other side of the beach.

When I was there I jumped on the trap and watched them build a bar.

Anson day 17

Today I got to take the laundry to Isis and have it washed. Then I went home and laid in the hammock for a wile then I went to the office and there was some trouble with a key and stuff. After that I took my knife to be sharpened at Pacos. Then when I got back I went out on the kayak then mom went out on it to!!!!!! We ate dinner at a new place called Tacos Yollando.

Griffin day 18

Woke up and went to Pajuelas's rosewood shop. I made part of a plate and a top. I also did some polishing and selling for Paco. (Btw if you haven't already figured it out Pajuelas and Paco is the same person). Came home and ate before swimming with John. Went home, had a shower and went to The Eclipse for dinner.It was pretty good and there was fire dancing there to.

Griffin day 17

Woke up and took the laundry to Isis then read all morning. Had lunch and read until Ricardo showed up on the beach hung out with him until I let Anson fend for himself on translating because he knows the words but he would rather have me translate everything for him. We took a kayak out and played around in the bay. Went to Tacos Yolanda for dinner after we picked up the laundry at Isis. The food was awsome.

Alison Day 18 Fat Tuesday

Sunny all day until dinnertime. Spent most of it on the beach. Took the Kayak out for awhile and love it. That thing can move through the water like crazy. Art gets here tomorrow and we are all psyched. Griff and John will go into PV to run some errands and get him. Anson will be on the water taxi so I have the casa to myself. So I can lay on the beach!!!! Dinner at Eclipse with Fire dancing and cheese cake that was great. Dinner was ok. Visited with Alfonso and his wife on the way home after stocking up on fruit at the store. Got some yummy gum drops too!!! Off to family movie night. Adios Amigos.

John Day 17th, Feb 20

High tide was 9 Am today. The lagoon was hitting the bottom stairs at the Garcia rental so I spent the morning Digging out beach. Took awhile but I finally got it going with the help of one other man.

Griffin, Anson and I then went and dropped off the laundry to Lea.

We then went on a rivet snap hunt to fix my Brake handles. No Luck.

Anson Helped Luis shop for a Ipod Touch. We had it shipped to Bernie and Durelle's

I hiked up for 1 flight.

Alison said she would swim but it was too cold for her.

I finished cleaning the beach.

We then all went to town a picked up the laundry, had dinner at Yolonda's, and ice cream at meriasols.

Alison Day 17

Monday was a SUNDAY!!! Tacos Yolanda for dinner es muy bueno!!! Ley did another amazing job on our laundry. I visited with Suzannah and Mary Anne on the beach. Guac and salsa for lunch. Ice cream from Marosiles for dessert. It was a great day! Love in Yelapa.

Griffin day 16

Got out of bed and had an amazing breakfast of, eggs, hash browns and bacon prepared by John. Read all morning and went to Shambala for their awsome Sunday beef stew. Got home and read more before John and I hiked up to launch. I had a decent flight but I set up over the lagoon, not the ocean like I should have and landed in the back of the lagoon and had to walk a wet wing to the beach to dry.spent the next couple hours drying every thing before Mom and John went to dinner. I had some PB & Js.

John Day 16th Sunday

Still no Sun.

Made Eggs and Hash browns for breakfast.

Alison Day 16 Sunday

It was a mostly sunny day on the beach meeting new folks. The units are all full up so that's great news! Date night dinner at El Cerrito with Juan very nice time together. John also made a great breakfast of potatoes, eggs and bacon. Lunch at Shambyla Birria Stew and tacos buy bueno. Adios Amigos.

John Day 15th Feb 18th 2012

Woke up to clouds but no rain.

Sun came out around noon so griffin and I went up for his best flight of the trip. 16 minutes

We hiked back up and I went 1st. Hit massive up and massive sink 700 ft down. I called griffin off and headed for the beach. Griffin waited on launch and in the long run had to walk down.

I hung out out on the beach with Alison, then worked on cleaning the Beach.

Off to Dinner at the oasis.

Came home from Dinner and Made Salsa.

Anson day 12,13,14,15

Sorry that I got so far behind for the people reading this but I've just am going on so many adventures and am so busy. Today when I got home from Paco's John and Griff were on there way out to go to the light house so I went with them and it was fun. It took us about an hour to get to it, then we put up a wind sock and I cleared the trail with the machete.
Thursday started out slow. We went up to fly and and are flight was nice and smooth. Then I went to Paco's and polished some stuff. Then we ate diner at Brisas  with Randy and Barbra.
Friday cloudy and rainy again but Randy and Barbra left that day but the water taxi was early so they missed it then when the next one came it was full so they had to hire someone to take them to PV. Then we hung out till din din then we ate at Tacos Y Mas which is always great.
Today was great I got to go up to the light house by my self after I swept and ate lunch. it took me about 2 hours to get up because I was stopping to clean the trail so much and cut stuff down. then when I got up I had a pack of crackers and sat around for 30 min. It took me 15 min to run down. Then I we went to the Oasis for diner and it was goo but we don't need to do it again 

Griffin day 15

Got up pretty late today. John and I hiked up to Tapita and we both got 16 minute flights, they were really good but I couldn't get a second flight in. We hiked up and John got off and had a crazy rollercoster ride of a flight. his max up was 300 fpm and his max down was 700 fpm. Needless to say I had to hike down and I twisted both of my ankles but I think I will be fine tomorrow. We went to the Oasis for dinner. My soup was good but overall it wasn't a good meal.

Alison Day 13, 14 and 15

Sorry to be a bit behind. Believe it or not my only excuse is laziness.
     The recap of Thursday was that it was our last day with Randy and Barbara from Virginia and hung out on the beach all day. We had dinner with them at Brisas (The best yummy delicious) I am so bummed to see them go we have had so much fun together. They are a great couple and both are hoots to hang with. Can't wait to visit them in Kitty Hawk at the beach or in Richmond. They have been so entertaining to hang with.
     Woke up to rain Friday and a bit chilly. Barbara and Randy had to private hire a boat to get to PV due to the 9:30 being early and the noon being full. That stunk for sure, but they powered through made it all work. Lunch was home made hamburgers and mac n cheese by Juan and then we snuggled as a family and watched some TV. Great dinner at Tacos Y Mas! Smoke filled unit tonight once from some potheads and then a grill and some wet wood. No Bueno. Watched Fast Five snuggled in bed with the boys and off to beddy bye!!! Being lazy all day sure can be tiring.
     Saturday----Sunshine today and a great day on the beach. Anson went up to the Light House and Griffin and John flew. G had to walk down from the second flight because the wind changed. Bummer for him but he handled like a good sport.  I continued my laziness on the beach in the sun. Randy's soup for lunch for the boys. Yum Yum.Swept the unit we do that about 2 times a week to keep ahead of the sand. John is raking the beach, Griff's in the shower and I am waiting for anson to return from his adventure and then we will be off to dinner. Adios Amigos.

Anson day 11

Today we flew off tapa and had a 9 minute flight. Then I went and worked with Paco and then on the way back I ran into mom John and Griff. Then we went and ate at Cafe Bahia. Then I went back to Pacos and they picked up the laundry.  When I got home Charlie was on the beach and then  he fallowed me up to are unit.Then we went to the valentines day buffet.

John Day 14 Feb 17th 2012

Today started off with Randy and Barbara missing there 9:30 water taxi. I just went right by without stopping.

As we watched it rain with visited with Randy and Barbara. the Noon Taxi time rolled around and the boat was full. Turns out lots of people missed the 9:30 Taxi.

As Randy and Barbara found someone to pay to take them to PV I made hamburgers and mac and cheese for lunch.

Things lightened up so griffin and I  hiked up to fly. I took off 1st in good lift. 150 ft over launch it started to rain on me. I radioed Griffin but he said it was not raining. Turns out I was just flying above the dew point. I told Griffin to take a sledder. He launched and we both flew out over the ocean and landed. I had to kite my wing somewhat dry. Griffins 1st flight where he landed because of weather not because of lack of lift.

The family cuddled up for Once upon a time - ABC's TV show. During the show Mom skyped in.

We headed to Town to try a new place. All they serve is Seafood so we tried the Eclipse- Closed so off to Taco y Mas. Guacamole, Beans and Rice for me.

Home to watch Fast Five - not bad - not real or possible but not bad.

Griffin day 14

Got up and everyone was talking to Randy and Barbra so I got up and joined in. It turns out that the water taxi left 10 minutes early and they missed it. We talked with them until the 12 o'clock water taxi came by full. There wasn't enough room for them to get on so they ended up having to charter a boat and split the cost with another 3 people. Once they were gone we ate hamburger patties and mac & cheese for lunch. After lunch John and I Hiked up to Tapita and got a really nice flight but we couldn't stay up for very long because even though there was plenty of lift it was raining higher up. After the flight we watched a Once Upon A Time. After the show we went to Tacos y Mas for dinner. It was tastey.

John Day 13

Day started with a drive up to Tapa and a Tandem with Anson.

Griffin did a Solo. I talked him thru looking for his reserve and Baby ears and Big Ears. His 1st true solo. No help from me.

I Swam over to the Pier and meet with Aldo. He had Nino drive and I needed to pay him. I swam back home.

Woke up today and walked over to Aldo's hardware store to see if he would take us up to Tapa. He said he would send somebody to run us and so we walked the rest of the way stopping at Dennie's place to see if he wanted to come. He was busy packing to so to salulita so he didn't come. We met Miguel at the truck and drove up. John laid out and got off but on my launch Miguel waited until I had to abort into a thorn bush to tell me to stop. Luckily it pulled out very easily and I was able to do a perfect 0 wind forward. I landed, packed up and went to Randy's to pick up their leftover soup for lunch since they weren't going to eat it. It was really good. Hiked up Tapita and did a perfect light wind launch and landing. Hiked up again but it took awhile to launch because I started to rush it but after I took a step back and calmed down a little my launch was good. Were able to get a third flight in today so we did. my launch and landing were the best ones yet. Went to Brisas Resturaunt for dinner and we ate with Randy and Barbra since it is their last night.

John Day 12

Moist Morning so we started the day with Lunch a shambala

Griffin, Anson and I hike to the light house and put in a windsock.

I Raked trash on the beach until diner.

There was no sun so we didn't get to fly Tapa today. Mom John and I went to the Shambala café for lunch and I got some really good pancakes. Since there wasn't any wind and it was sprinkling we hiked up to the light house and set up a windsock to see if we could put a site up there. We got home and Anson and I went to the store to get meat and bread for pasta night. While Anson and Mom cooked John and I raked junk off of the beach. The food was really good and after we finished the beach.

Griffin day 11

Got up and went to Tapa, I did a zero wind launch and got a sled ride. It was awesome doing it solo and i did a great landing. We went to Cafe Brahia for lunch and I got a spinich omlette. On the way home we went to the bakery and got some cookies, cinnamon rolls and banana bread. John and I hiked up Tapita and both got almost 15 minute flights. We hiked it again and got another 10 minute flight. We landed safely and went to a big party at the hotel lagunita. There was an awesome buffet with chicken and fish. It was also a costume party and there were lots of really good ones.

Alison Day 12 Wednesday February 15

Well another great day in Yelapa. Had a fabulous lunch at Shambala with Griffin and John and relaxed the rest of the day while it rained on and off. The boys went up to the Light house with a wind sock and had a great Adventure. Griff and Anson went to town to get some ground beef and bread for a spaghetti dinner and we had out first official dinner in!! It was delicious thanks to Anson's skills. The boys are finishing up raking the beach and then a swim in the ocean/showers and movie time. Adios Amigos!!!

John Day 11

Another proud day. The 1st photo is Griffin launching while I am flying in front of him. We flew wing tip to wing tip for 10 minutes. 

We started the day with no wind forwards off the top. I flew Anson and Griffin Soloed. 8 minute sled rides to the beach. I made it to the light house and then the beach. Griffin did a straight sleder.

We Did lunch at Cafe Brahia at the pier.

Picked up our laundry on the way home.

Griffin and i hiked up for 2 flights off low launch. 1st was a 15 minute flight. Last 8 minutes. Worked on right and left 360's.

We then worked as a team to rake the beach.

Charlie came by for a visit.

Off to the Hotel for a Valentines day Buffet.

John Day 10 Feb 13th 2012

Big day today!

Griffin flew his 1st Solo!

We started the day with a tandem off the upper launch with Griffin.

After landing I took Isabel, Erics wife up to Tandem.

Griffin did some practice forwards. I then laid out with my Tandem.

After I forwarded out, griffin laid out and did waited for me to land. I radioed up he was good to go.

He did a reverse and flew straight out over the ocean. During his flight the wind picked up alot so he came in about 10 feet short. I went out in the lagoon and pushed him forward to keep the wing dry.

We both hiked up again. I flew Randy. 190 lbs. Lead balloon sled ride. Griffin reversed again and had a great landing.

Alison Day 11

Tuesday-Valentines Day in Yelapa!!
Anson's first tandem with John and Griffin's 3rd solo flight off Topa wonderfully done by all. Lunch at Cafe Bahia delightful Taco Salad, bean soup and omelette. Some reading/TV and Napping in the tardes.
What a treat. Tonight was the end of the Croquet Tournament Party at Lagunita and costume party. It was a riot. Incredible costumes like Green-Go the lady dressed in plant life, the 2 old ladies dressed as exact replicas of 2 old mexican men and my favorite was an old lady (Over 80) dressed as Charlie the Bassit Hound complete with a pee bottle and a white haired man with a half fan on his back dressed as Alan Handro!!! Hilarious. Great buffet too-Fish, Chicken, potatoes and veggies. Topped off the the best Tres Leches Cake I have ever put in my mouth.Got to visit with Erik and Isabelle from Canada on their last night. Les showed with his Doberman and said he had taken a nap with his vulture chicki tee!!! This place is filled with the active elderly population that seems incredibly healthy. Meanwhile they are drinking, smoking and getting high every night. Go figure maybe we are doing it all wrong living life right. Adios Amigos.

Alison Day 10

Monday
Well last night we had some crazy gringos next door party and scream on the beach till after 1am! So I guess that counts as it feels like Monday morning in Yelapa! Anson and I took our laundry to Ley Garcia at Isis Laundry to drop off. Then we ran into Paco and headed to Cafe Eclipse for great pancakes. Paco picked up the bill silly man!!! Later Paco and Anson came over with a beautiful Rosewood Vase that he had polished and coconut earrings and flowers for my Birthday!!! Anson reheated some soup and shared with Paco for lunch.  Anson paddle boarded in the ocean and we had a crazy whale sighting.
Spent a very sunny day on the beach with Barbara and Randy. Randy and Isabella had there first paragliding flights and loved them. Griffin had his first 2 solos. He did incredible. I am so proud of all his training paying off. For a minute it looked like John was flying Griffin when he was landing. Kinda like Curious George and the balloons!! John jumped in the lagoon and flew Griffin to the beach so only tennis shoes were wet. Griffin wanted to celebrate at Tacos Y Mas and it ended with Avocado Pie and opened with Guac so I was good. Stopped by Mr and Mrs Garcia and gave them some gifts from Colorado and now Adios Amigos!!!!

Griffin day 10

Got up and got ready to go to Tapa for a tandem. It was a pretty good flight. There was one thermal that we got and used to maintain for a while before heading down. Landed, ate, and was told to grab my solo gear to try and fly. Hiked up with Isabelle and Eric, layed out, did a couple practice launches and rossetted up so John could launch. Dennie arrived and launched because John was hanging out longer in the air. Eventually I was able to do a perfect reverse on my first try. On launch I had some radio trouble which delayed me but, I got off safely. The flight was amazing and when I landed I was told to hike back up with John and Randy to fly again. The second flight was just as awesome as the first and after we went to tacos y mas.

Anson day 10!!!!!!!!!!

Today we took the laundry to Isis laundry. Then we went to Eclipse Cafe and sat with Paco and had french toast. IT WAS GREAT!!!! Then we went back home to lay on the beach. Then I went to the rose wood gallery but the power was out so we sat and sold the stuff. Then he gave a vase to mom for her birth day. then when we  got home Griff had gone up to sole so Paco and I  ate the stew from Sunday. Then when Griff landed and almost landed in the lagoon! We ate at tacos y mas and I had 5 tacos!!! 

Griffin day 9

Woke up to John telling me that I had five minutes to get ready to fly. I got ready and we went to Allen's house to organize a truck up to Tapa. We walked up to the truck with Simone, Miguel and Eric. Miguel and Eric stopped to get Denny who lives partway up the trail to the truck. After we all were at the truck we waited for about 5 minutes before Aldo showed up on his ATV. We drove to Tapa and waited about an hour before we took off last. We got a 12 minute flight and went to the room for lunch. Mom and Anson picked up some really good beef stew at Shambala from Simones recomendation. John and I hiked up to Tapita and got a sleder before we showered and went to the Passion Flower Garden All you can eat pig roast. The food was pretty good and there was a fire dancer just before we left.

Anson day 9

Today I went on the ocean with the paddle board and the waves were a little ruff so I had to come in and I laid on the beach. When it got calmer I went back out and I looked at this yacht from the cayman islands. It had 4 decks and it was a 60 footer. Then I came in and they had landed and i watched them eat stew. Oh did I not tell you I HAD THE BEST STEW IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!! Then they went back up and I laid on the beach some more. When they landed we went for a swim. We ate dinner at Passion Flower and saw fire dancing.

Griffin day 8

It was Mom's birthday today so John got up and made bacon and cheesey onion eggs. It was really good. Other than that we didn't really do anything until Aldo's kids brought their puppy to the beach. We played Uno with them until it was time for dinner. We invited them and their parents to Pollo Bollo and it was really good. After dinner we played hide and seek until we started heading towards home. We went to the little 2 game and a fooseball table arcade until we ran out of 1 pesos.

Anson day 8

Today I had a lot of fun because it's mom's birthday!!!!!!!! When we got up john made some eggs and bacon. Then because it was raining we read and snuggled. Then I went in to town and found Aldo's kids and puppy. When we were done playing I went to the pier and watched the boat's for a bit. When i got home we read some more and then Aldo's kids came over with there puppy. We played on the beach for an hour. Then as a family we went to Aldo's house asked if their family wanted to come to pollo bollo. It was great dinner and after it we played hide and seek. Then we went to the arcade and played some games.

Griffin day 7

After I got up we couldn't fly so I went over to the rosewood shop. I got there before Pajuelas arrived so I sat down on a table. A couple minutes later a black and white German Shepard was walking by so I said "hey dog." Next thing I know he's sitting next to me on the table waiting to be scratched behind the ears. He was super friendly. Eventually Pajuelas got there, chased Oso off and we began to work. For most of the time I polished pieces for Paco but just before he started packing he set me up on the carving lathe and told me which tools to use. I made a pretty good bowl and Pajuelas made it perfect before polished it. After I got home John hadn't gotten back yet from his escapade so I watched a Happy Endings with Mom. Once everyone was home we went to Manguitos for dinner. I got the chicken pasta and it was delicious. After dinner we tried to watch a paragliding movie on the big TV that he has set up there but I couldn't get it to work.

John Day 9

Today Griffin and I started our day by hiking to the truck and then riding up to the 2100 ft launch.

No wind so I spent an hour or so trimming weeds and bushes. IE Gardening.

Simon went 1st when the cycles started. Miguel was next followed by Denny and then Eric. All forwards.

Griffin aand I with Aldo's help laid out for a forward Tandem. We got a nice boat y 12 minute flight.

Simon had told us about a beef stew at shambala. I had past the word to Alison. She and Anson went up and Got everyone Stew. Griffin and I ate it in the unit with Alison's Company.

Griffin and I hiked up to low launch, did a no wind forward. Griffin flew middle section.

When we landed Anson showed us some animals.

Alison suggested a swim in the ocean so Griffin, Anson and I swam out to the Avenger , an Amazing 40 ft yacht.

Anson day 7

Today  got to wake up a little later at 8 30 am to be at the pier by 9. When I got there he was already there so I had him pick me up and then we picked up Chico. then we went and picked up a few people and then went back and picked up Alfonzo. We left with about 15 people. Then when we got to PV we went and got some really really good quesodilla. Then we went back to Yelapa. When we got back i went home and hung in the hammock. Then I went back to the boat early and had a  guy take me out to the boat and I slept while I waited  for him. He was 32 minutes late!! .Then we ate at manguito's. It was great!!!!!!!!  

Alison Day 9

Sunday
Great morning. Blue Skies and it looks like it will be a beautiful day!! Anson and I had Lunch at Shambalya and it was Bria this amazing Mexican Stew/tacos and brought plenty for the boys for when they landed. It was amazing with all the fixings/onions.cilantro/lime/green and red salsas. Muy Bueno. Anson ate it up. Hung out on the beach and watched Griff and John fly the rest of the day. Anson Paddle boarded in the Ocean for the first time and did very well. I am so proud of how much he has accomplished. It was the Christening in town for all the locals. Which it turns out went till the 4 am time frame. We went to a Luau in Yelapa at Passion Garden Flower with April and Jose. Complete with topless fire dancing. A little bit of anatomy class never hurt. Griffin commented that it was less to risk catching on fire during her act. The food was great and we hung with Randy and Barbara from VA and chatted. Adios Amigos.

Alison Day 8

Saturday
A great 40th Birthday in Yelapa! No power/Rained all day and it couldn't have been more perfect for me.
Finished MockingJay and the Hunger Games Series. Great books, now we have all read them as a family. Napped and relaxed all day with John. He made me Birthday eggs and bacon muy bueno! Aldo's boys came over with their 8 week old puppy and played on the beach in the rain. Dinner with Aldo's family and Paco joined at Pollo Bollo is was delicious BBQ Ribs and Chicken. The kids played Uno and then off to town for Saturday night out at the Arcade and the Town Pier. Adios Amigos! My 40's will truly be FABULOUS!!!!!

Alison Day 7

Friday
Dinner at El Manguitos-Food was great Service was so so. Creme Chicken es muy bueno. Hung out with Miguel and the other pilots. Met a new one Eric and his wife! Coming home from dinner it was Friday night in Yelapa and Anson joined a 12 year olds Bday Party and enjoyed tres leche cake. Met a nice couple Mary and Eric at dinner they commented on how nice the boys are! It was an adventure walking up the river and back. John hiked up to the light house. I caught up on reading and relaxing. Griffin Worked with Paco at the Rosewood Factory and Anson water taxied 9-6! Adios Amigos

John Day 8

Happy Birthday Alison!

Woke to no electricity and rain.

I made eggs and bacon for everyone, we spent the day laying around the unit watching it rain.

Alison and I both finished the hunger game series.

Aldo's kids came with the puppy to visit.

Griffin, Anson and the boys played Uno around the table.

We then went and Invited Aldo's family to diner at Pollo bollo. Paco joined us for a very nice birthday diner.

Everyone is getting ready for movie night.
